Our new website has been launched and is live!  Please check it out at www.bsls.ca  It also has all blogs for the school under the ‘For Parent’ heading.  Childcare and Principal now have their own blogs so please look.  The phys. ed and the music blogs have been recently changed, so please go and check them out too!  The blogs change weekly so please continue to look regularly.
Aaron Burnett performed at our school on Jan. 30 and we are in the Lance!  Our grade 3 violinists performed with him for one of his songs and we also had a number of students who helped him do the actions to many of his songs with the rest of the children. You can see the article on the internet at http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/our-communities/lance/Wheres-thar-raccoon-243594051.html  or check it out in last weeks’ Lance.
Our Open House for the Birchdale location is on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 6-8.  If you know of any families who may be looking for a school, please spread the word about our fabulous school.  This open house is for kindergarten, grades 1-8, and our daycare and nursery programs.
Our Open House for the St. Mary’s Nursery program will be on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 6-8.  If you know any families who are looking for a part time Christian nursery, please let them know of our program and to attend the open house.
If you are aware of any family who would like information about any of our programs, school or childcare, please send them to Mrs. Kolmel at admissions@bsls.ca  If they cannot attend our Open Houses, we would be happy to set up an alternative time to tour and discuss the school and the programs available.
Mad Science started last week and it went well.  The students were quite excited and enjoyed the first lesson.  Mad Science continues until Spring Break.
Fundraising Reminders:
The wine raffle letter went home on Friday.  We will be doing the draw at the Evening of the Arts.  So, to get prepared for, we are asking that families bring in a bottle of wine or two.  If your bottle of wine that you donate to the school is over $20, please bring in a receipt and you will get a charitable donation receipt for that amount.  Thank you in advance for supporting our fundraising.  We are hoping to raise $5000 thru the wine raffle fundraiser and the money will be put towards finishing the south playground.
Please remember to mention us at the St. Annes M & M’s whenever you make any purchases there (we will receive 10%) and bring in your Tassimo disks.  Tassimo disks can be turned in to the office.

BASC parents: When you are at the door to be buzzed in, please state your name clearly and the names who you are picking up (your child(ren).  If it is unclear through the intercom, you will be asked to repeat yourself.  If, for some reason, it cannot be clearly understood, a staff member will come up to see you at the door before letting you in.  We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter as this is to ensure the safety of the children in our care.  We also please ask that you do not let anyone else in the building without announcing it.  It may seem polite to hold the door open for the next person, but to maintain the safe environment for our children, we need all parents to announce themselves through the intercom.  We thank you for your assistance in this matter immediately.
When dropping off your child in the morning, please only park to the right of the PIP Reserved spot in the back or in the front of the school on the street.  (Do not block the crosswalk)  The staff need the parking spots by the building to plug in their cars for the day.  We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

PIP News
Our new sign for the parking stall has arrived and is installed.  Just a reminder that the Tkach family, Deanna and Doug, have paid exclusive rights to this parking spot until the spot will be auctioned off at the March 22 Spring Supper, as one of the live auction items.
There will be a Spring Supper Planning Committee meeting on February 11, at 7pm at Barb Wierckx’s home, 183 Pilgrim Avenue.  All are invited to attend.  The March 22 BSLS Spring Supper is PIP’s major fundraising night for this school year, complete with a fabulous dinner, cash bar, live auction, silent auction, and family photos.  Our dinner theme for 2014 is Western.  Tickets will be on sale in March, prices will be the same as last year: $30 for adults, $15 for children ages 4-12, and under 4 is free. New this year, a quilt made by the students will be one of the live auction items, as well as other items made by the students.
Please join us at the next PIP meeting on February 27 at 6:30 to hear a presentation by Sean MacDonald and Dave Windsor from the BSLS School Board (meeting agenda attached).  They will discuss the school’s current and future plans and goals.  There will be time for questions, and complementary Tassimo coffee will be available for brewing.  Free babysitting will be provided for this meeting.
